Many may not be aware that the African American community accounts for HALF of ALL new HIV diagnoses and just under HALF of the new AIDS diagnoses in 2009. Of the total number of people living with an HIV diagnosis in 2008 in the 40 U.S. states and 5 dependent areas, 46% were Black/African
American.*
Project Saved – The HIV/AIDS Ministry is committed to stopping the spread of these deadly diseases. Project Saved is not only reaching out to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS but also creating a greater awareness of this pandemic disease within our community. Project Saved is critical in helping the congregation and community become more aware of the spread and problems of HIV/AIDS and its impact through education. This ministry focuses on reducing the risks of HIV and AIDS. We are:
Having monthly testing and counseling by certified testing programs
Discussing the spiritual elements of dealing with HIV and AIDS
Providing essential spiritual support
Encouraging more people to come for treatment and care
Providing ongoing education, training and outreach
